Unity4Water: From Ideas to Action

June 9 2025

Partners from across the Unity4Water initiative recently came together for a productive project meeting, marking an important step in the journey toward more circular and sustainable water use.

The day featured focused breakout sessions, open discussions about the road ahead, and a guided lab tour that helped translate abstract goals into tangible direction. Across work packages, partners identified shared priorities and developed concrete action plans for the autumn phase.

– We now have a clearer view of what needs to happen – and when. The energy in the room was encouraging, and it’s clear that the drive to move from ambition to implementation is shared by everyone around the table, said Monica Odlare, project coordinator and professor at Mälardalen University.

The meeting reinforced the project’s focus areas: water reuse, circular resource flows, and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) as part of future food production. With strong engagement and cross-sector collaboration, Unity4Water continues to build a foundation for solutions that balance innovation with long-term sustainability.

More updates will follow as the autumn activities unfold – including insights from pilot sites and lessons learned across the initiative.
