Exploring future food and water solutions at Fotografiska

October

At a recent event hosted at Fotografiska in Stockholm – researchers, innovators, and industry partners gathered to discuss this pressing question. With presentations ranging from experimental research on water reuse in food production to practical demonstrations of vertical farming, the meeting highlighted both the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead.

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation by Professor Monica Odlare from Mälardalen University, who shared results from the ongoing Farm4Future project. Her talk focused on the importance of reusing water in food production systems and how digital tools can help monitor and optimize the process. By combining experimental research with practical applications, Farm4Future explores ways to secure sustainable food systemsin a future where water is an increasingly limited resource.

The event also featured insights from SweGreen’s Co-Founder & Chief Innovation Officer, Sepehr Mousavi, who explained how their solutions bring food production closer to consumers while drastically cutting water and energy use.

Malin Rosqvist, Program Director at PiiA, emphasized the crucial role of collaboration and cross-sector partnerships, underlining how initiatives like Unity4Water and RELIANT can accelerate the adoption of innovative process technologies.

Beyond the presentations, the event offered valuable networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect across sectors and explore potential synergies for future projects. The afternoon concluded with time for informal discussions and a chance to experience Fotografiska’s current exhibitions.

Unity4Water and its partners extend their thanks to all participants and look forward to continued dialogue on how digitalization and process innovation can help secure sustainable water and food systems.
